Word for the Day- Consider it an Interruption

We know that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As believers in Christ, we should also be confident in the fact that God has the final say so in our lives. Compare your life to a story being read aloud. Think about where you are in your life right now. The place you’re in may not feel good but that’s okay. Now consider anything that the enemy throws your way as an interruption during¬†your story. The story is still finished, the author hasn’t changed and the ending is still the same. You just haven’t read that far yet. You may have to pause your story to deal with the interruption, i.e., financial hardships, marital problems, frustration, doubt, loss of job, lack of faith, or death of a loved one, but when you resume reading, the story will end the same way God intended it to; for your good.

Encouragement for the Day

No one’s life is ever perfect. We never truly get all the things want out of it and sometimes not even the things we need. Sometimes we’re short on bill money, and sometimes we have to cut back. The kids may not be able to get the latest trends right now and you may not be able to get your hair done as often as you’d like. The pantry may only contain rice and beans and maybe you’ve had to downsize more than you initially planned. Everything may be going left when you want to go right but that’s okay. No matter what happens, we should always put or trust in Him and praise in or through whatever we’re facing. Because truth be told, with God in control, we will essentially always have what we need to survive. The Lord is worthy to be praised in every aspect of our lives. The hills and valleys, the peaks and plummets and even the backwards and sideways. So, rejoice in Him today ūüôā

Though the cherry tress don’t blossom and the strawberries don’t ripen, though the apples are worm-eaten and the wheat felds stunted, though the sheep pens are sheepless and the cattle barns empty, I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God. Counting on God’s rule to prevail, I take heart and gain strength. I run like a deer. I feel like I’m king of the mountain!

Habakkuk 17-19 (MSG)

Production Over Promise

During my time of reflection, I was just thinking why church/ministries feel that the Word of God needs a production in the pulpit to convey His Word. The Word tells us in Hebrews 4:12 that the “Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”. So if the Word of God is already alive and working on its own, why would man have to pump it up with fancy clothes, extravagant church service regimes and secular additives? The word of God doesn’t need pyrotechnics, smoke and elaborate light shows to convey it’s power to the people on a daily basis. The Word is the light, all by itself, just the way God spoke it.

If we did indeed need all this in order to preach the gospel, how did Christ accomplish the task of speaking to thousands without the use of a microphone and a stage play featuring the twelve disciples? There’s nothing wrong with having special programs and somewhat adjusting to what works for your audience/members at times but all we really need in order to deliver God’s Word is to “seek the Kingdom of God, above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” -Matthew 6:33.

What Kind of Fruit Are You Bearing?

5¬†But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6¬†to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness….

2 Peter 1:5-6

In order to grow and mature spiritually you must be willing to stay planted in the ground long enough for your fruit to come forth and be the kind that will remain. You are known by the fruit you bare; stay connected to the right tree and you will produce fruit of the same kind as your faith continue to grow in Him!

Food For Thought

Be careful of whom you entrust the vision of God with. Everyone is not called to be vision carriers! It takes a special anointing to give birth in another man’s field. Just a Kingdom thought .

Verse of the Day

Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].

This Song Speaks to me!

The “Appeal” by (friend in my head) Kirk Franklin is my favorite song of all time. Every time I listen and meditate on it, I become overwhelmed by the love the Father has for us even when we stray away. It helps to encourage me to stay in the race and know that in the end it will all be worth it to hear Him say, “Job well done”. I hope it does the same for you ūüôā

“The Appeal”-Kirk Franklin

Lord I stand in your presence wanting you and need you and
I am here and I surrender all of me so I can see
Your will is where I desire to be take all of me oh
I give it to you Lord it’s for you
Just take my hand and I’ll follow you for all that I have and all that I do it’s for you
You are my song it’s your love that keeps me strong and you are the light in the darkness of my night
I’m lost without you broken without you oh how I need you
Oh how I need you
You make life worth living your grace always keep giving
I’m lost without you broken without you oh how I need you oh how I need you
Lord Have mercy
Have mercy
We need your healing please give us healing
Lord have mercy have mercy
Lord have mercy have mercy
Lord I come broken in this place weak and poor for all I have is yours all yours
This life these things they can’t compare to you no wealth no fame can separate that one my heart adores
Yet we take our eyes off you we’re blind in reaching for the truth and now this whole world cries because it realizes
There is none quite like you the earth the stars the universe repeat these words so true
Life begins and life will end with you
Life begins and life will end with you
When I die what will they say about me will the work that I’ve done be enough to help someone when I die WILL I draw men’s hearts to you at the setting of the sun wanna hear you say well done when I die
Well done well done
